The air flow around a milling cutter investigated experimentally by particle image velocimetry

چکیده

The movement of air around a rotating milling cutter is investigated experimentally by using the optical non-intrusive method PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry). located next to flat surface simulating processed material. Flow studied in three planes axial × radial direction with phases 90°, 180° and 270° from point closest desk. timing has been synchronized rotation. We observed plumes governed centrifugal force (as Taylor-Couette flow) acting on teared cutter. In average, flows along its front end forming large-scale vortex mostly apparent at higher velocity plane opposite surface. At 90°plane, sucked towards cutter, while 270°plane, pushed away it. Spatial correlation function shows weak periodicity close widening shape increasing distance

Visualization of air flow around soccer ball using a particle image velocimetry

A traditional soccer ball is constructed using 32 pentagonal and hexagonal panels. In recent years, however, the likes of the Teamgeist and Jabulani balls, constructed from 14 and 8 panels, respectively, have entered the field, marking a significant departure from conventionality in terms of shape and design. Moreover, the recently introduced Brazuca ball features a new 6-panel design and has a...

Four-dimensional dynamic flow measurement by holographic particle image velocimetry.

The ultimate goal of holographic particle image velocimetry (HPIV) is to provide space- and time-resolved measurement of complex flows. Recent new understanding of holographic imaging of small particles, pertaining to intrinsic aberration and noise in particular, has enabled us to elucidate fundamental issues in HPIV and implement a new HPIV system. This system is based on our previously report...

Zebrafish swimming in the flow: a particle image velocimetry study

Zebrafish is emerging as a species of choice for the study of a number of biomechanics problems, including balance development, schooling, and neuromuscular transmission. The precise quantification of the flow physics around swimming zebrafish is critical toward a mechanistic understanding of the complex swimming style of this fresh-water species. Although previous studies have elucidated the v...

Particle Image Velocimetry in a Supersonic Air Ejector

Ejectors are devices usually made of two convergent-divergent coaxial nozzles which are used to convert pressure energy into kinetic energy. These devices involve very complex phenomena which strongly affect their performance. Flow visualization methods are often used to provide precious information as for the nature of the flow within the ejectors and the comprehension of the physical phenomen...
